Volatility Ladder

Calculated support and resistance levels

Written by John Mulligan

What it shows

The Volatility Ladder appears below the chart on the charting page, showing calculated support and resistance levels to help spot opportunities or manage risk. Levels are calculated on Short, Medium, and Long timeframes, alongside the 50-day and 200-day Simple Moving Average.

How levels are calculated

Levels are calculated using Average True Range (ATR), which measures market volatility based on an asset's trading range over a specified period. Unlike some other volatility indicators, ATR accounts for potential price gaps and limits its calculation to the true range of price fluctuations.

Distance

The percentage difference between the last close price and each calculated support or resistance level. Levels above the close show a positive % difference (green); levels below show a negative % difference (red).
